The Third-Person Supplement (MTP) offers essential financial support to individuals receiving a disability pension who need assistance from another person for everyday tasks. Retirees with significant loss of autonomy can also qualify, receiving this boost alongside their pension.
The MTP is a pension increase for those on a disability pension. To qualify, your disability must prevent work and require daily help from a third party for basic life activities.
The need for assistance is assessed by your health insurance fund's medical advisor—whether under general or special schemes. They evaluate based on 10 daily activities: getting up/going to bed; rising from/sitting in a chair; moving around home (including wheelchair); entering/exiting a wheelchair; standing after a fall; leaving home in danger; dressing/undressing; eating/drinking; toileting; applying braces if needed.
Certain retirees can claim the MTP if they have at least 50% permanent incapacity, need third-party help for daily acts, and hold an incapacity pension.
Assistance must be justified by the retirement pension start date, at latest before full-rate automatic pension age.
Note: MTP is not granted if you have enough insurance quarters for a full pension.
Early retirees (long career or disability) qualify if deemed unfit for work between age 62 and full-rate eligibility.
Set by CNAV decree, the MTP is currently around 1,120 euros monthly for disability pensioners, revalued annually in April. For qualifying retirees, it's 40% of their pension or at least 1,120 euros monthly.
Paid monthly with your pension, it continues while you need help with the 10 daily tasks. Tax-exempt and non-recoverable from estates.

All cases require a doctor's certificate confirming third-party help need for daily activities.
