As a retirement expert with years of experience advising on French pension systems, I recommend that all employees and self-employed individuals plan ahead. You can request retirement from age 62 onward, with the start date on the first day of a month. To ensure smooth processing, initiate steps 4-6 months in advance, submitting documents to your general scheme pension fund and supplementary scheme.
Recent reforms have simplified retirement claims significantly. Create a personal account on lassuranceretraite.fr, the official site for France's general social security system.
This platform allows a single application covering both your basic and supplementary pensions.
In the "Request my retirement" section, enter your desired retirement date. The form auto-fills with your career details.
Upload scanned supporting documents as prompted, based on your situation.
If you prefer not to use the online service or lack digital comfort, submit by mail using Cerfa form n°10916-10 from the CNAV (National Old Age Insurance Fund). This covers only your basic pension.
Send the completed form to your basic scheme fund (depending on employee, self-employed, agricultural status, etc.), with: a photocopy of civil status proof (ID, passport, residence permit, family record book, etc.); bank RIB; last income tax notice or statement.
Additional documents per situation: family booklet for children; last 2 years' daily allowances if ill/injured; medical unfitness certificate; AAH award/rejection notice if ≥50% incapacity; fighter's card and service statement for veterans; proof of ≥50% permanent incapacity or equivalent handicap for potential pension increases.
For supplementary pensions via mail, contact an Agirc-Arrco CICAS center separately within 6 months of your target date. They'll mail the form and specify required documents tailored to you.
