Carpimko Pension Fund: Who Must Affiliate and Contribute?

CARPIMKO, the Autonomous Pension and Provident Fund for Nurses, Physiotherapists, Speech Therapists, and Orthoptists, manages retirement benefits and social support for independent medical auxiliaries across France.

What Is CARPIMKO and What Are Its Key Missions?

CARPIMKO is one of ten funds under the National Pension Fund for Liberal Professions (CNAVPL), handling old-age and disability-death insurance for liberal professions including doctors, dentists, midwives, pharmacists, architects, accountants, veterinarians, notaries, and bailiffs.

It specifically serves independent medical auxiliaries such as nurses, physiotherapists, podiatrists, speech therapists, and orthoptists.

How CARPIMKO Operates

Governed by Articles L640-1 and R641-1 of the Social Security Code, CARPIMKO is overseen by the Ministries of Solidarity and Health, the Economy, and the Court of Auditors.

A board of 22 elected full members and 22 alternates from affiliates sets statutes and approves budgets, with all decisions requiring supervisory approval.

CARPIMKO's Core Missions

CARPIMKO administers the basic pension via CNAVPL, a supplementary pension directly from the fund, and for contracted professionals, the Advanced Social Old Age (ASV) scheme.

It also provides social aid to lower-income retirees, including funding for home help, health-related home adaptations, or retirement home costs.

Who Contributes to CARPIMKO and What Rights Do They Gain?

Nurses, physiotherapists, pedicurists-podiatrists, speech therapists, and orthoptists practicing independently in France and overseas departments must affiliate with CARPIMKO from day one.

Upon starting their activity, the URSSAF-managed Business Formalities Center (CFE) notifies CARPIMKO automatically. Professionals can also register directly via the fund's website.

CARPIMKO also covers collaborating spouses, employees, or associates of policyholders.

Rights and Benefits for CARPIMKO Affiliates

Affiliates' contributions fund basic and supplementary pensions, plus the ASV plan for those under Social Security-agreed rates.

These contributions also provide daily incapacity allowances in cases of disability for these independent medical auxiliaries.
