Important Update: Childcare Allowance Applications Now Due Within 3 Months

Starting January 1, 2014, new rules require childcare allowance applications within three months after the month childcare begins. Apply late, and you'll forfeit the benefit.

Childcare allowance provides income-based support for childcare costs. While retroactive claims were possible, from January 1, 2014, the window shortens to three months. Applications must arrive no later than three months post-start month. Example: Child starts childcare January 20, 2014. Parent applies June 15, 2014. Entitlement begins March 1, 2014.

Eligibility for Childcare Allowance

Parents qualify if both are working, studying at certified institutions, taking integration courses, or actively job-seeking. The child must attend a registered facility. Your allowance amount factors in income, number of children in care, and entitled hours. For details or to apply, visit www.toeslagen.nl.
