Key Challenges of Remote Work
Of Dutch remote workers, 87.3% experience nuisances. The lack of social interactions with colleagues and customers tops the list at 49.3%. Meanwhile, 35.4% struggle to separate work from home life. Distractions are rife, with 14.3% interrupted by partners also working remotely and 16.3% by housemates or pets.
Remote vs. Office Work Differences
Compared to office settings, 47.6% of respondents get less exercise without walks to the coffee machine or break-time strolls. Many forget breaks without colleagues prompting them (34.6%), leading to loneliness (25.9%), low energy (16.4%), and reduced control over the work environment (20.9%).
Preferred Alternative Workspaces
Dutch workers prioritize undisturbed external locations. Fast WiFi is essential for 69%, followed by quiet areas, COVID-19 compliance (30.8%), cleanliness (25.6%), and nearby food and drinks (22.4%). Top choices include flexible offices (45.7%), hotel rooms (29.6%), and hotel meeting rooms (26.7%).
