Green Jobs Spotlight #4: Eco-Event Designer for Sustainable Fairs and Meetings

Eco-Designer for Events (Fairs, Meetings, and More)

The core mission: Orchestrating responsible events from start to finish—selecting eco-friendly venues, service providers, and materials, all the way to effective waste management.

Why the surge in demand? Businesses are prioritizing their environmental impact. Publicly listed companies (and soon those with 500+ employees) are required to conduct carbon assessments. Even non-regulated firms are pushing suppliers toward sustainability. Excess is out: expect focused, sober approaches to lighting, catering, and decor to minimize waste.

Ideal profile: No formal training required, though deep knowledge of environmental and social issues is a strong advantage. Take Julie, who leads a digital marketing agency dedicated to supporting sustainable businesses.

“Among other things, I organize responsible events. For the 1.618 Luxury and Sustainable Development show at the Palais de Tokyo in Paris, I was involved in creating the concept of the show through to monitoring the carbon footprint of the event. I also organize Green Twitt’Apéro, monthly afterworks, so that green bloggers can see themselves in real life. I meet a lot of varied interlocutors (exhibitors, organic caterers, bloggers…) who want to innovate. It stimulates creativity!”
