Regular Intimacy Boosts Workplace Satisfaction and Productivity, Study Shows

Private life and professional performance are more interconnected than many realize. Fulfillment at home enhances your mindset at work, and vice versa. A recent study from Oregon State University highlights one key factor: a regular sex life. Researchers found that frequent intimacy promotes greater job satisfaction and engagement. This insight comes from a two-week study involving 159 married employees, as reported by EurekAlert.

Dopamine and Oxytocin Drive the Benefits

Participants completed brief daily questionnaires about their private lives. The results were compelling: those with more active sex lives reported improved mood, higher satisfaction, and deeper involvement in work tasks the following day. They were also more open to new challenges and demonstrated greater productivity. Science explains this through the release of dopamine—the pleasure hormone—and oxytocin, which fosters social bonds. These elevate mood for up to 24 hours, according to Professor Keith Leavitt, a key researcher on the project.

It shows sex offers social, emotional, and psychological benefits. Make it a priority—take time for intimacy,” Leavitt advises. Prioritizing mental well-being through science-backed practices like this can transform your workday. Even the Swedish official who suggested paid time off for employees to be intimate with partners may have been onto something.
