While the internet offers practical, easy access for job seekers—88% use it, per an Ifop survey for Pôle emploi—its effectiveness falls short, according to the same authoritative study.
Offline channels remain the gold standard. Returns to employment break down as follows: 37% from personal and professional networks, 26% via labor market intermediaries, and just 12% from internet job postings. Online CV submissions drove only 2% of successes, compared to 5% from traditional unsolicited mail applications. In total, only 18% of respondents found work online.
Put down the keyboard and reconnect in person. Betting on your network isn't glamorous, but it's proven: no shortcuts, just results that work.
