Dutch Workers Exceed Global Overtime Average: Insights from Regus Global Survey

Globally, business professionals average nearly seven overtime hours per week—equivalent to a full working day—according to a comprehensive Regus survey of over 44,000 respondents across more than 100 countries. In the Netherlands, this figure rises to eight to twelve hours, highlighting a more intense work culture.

Mondays top the list for overtime worldwide, with one in ten professionals working longest then. Dutch workers, however, peak on Tuesdays and Thursdays, where 26% report their heaviest overtime. Like the global trend, Fridays see the least overtime as professionals prioritize an early weekend start.

Achieving work-life balance remains elusive: 38% of global respondents work a full extra day weekly. In the Netherlands, overtime is the norm—only 13% log less than one hour, while 58% exceed six hours, and 16% surpass fifteen. This Regus data underscores the challenges in Dutch professional life.
