Why I Genuinely Enjoy Working During the Holidays

Just last week, I shared how I've embraced my workaholic tendencies—so it might not surprise you that I don't mind working over the holidays. But it's more nuanced than that.

It's not about craving work on days off; it's the unique productivity boost these quieter weeks bring. I've felt this both as an employee and now as a freelancer. With fewer interruptions, it's the perfect time to tackle updates and tie up loose ends. Colleagues are scarce, clients are on break, and the usual buzz fades away.

When I worked for a boss, holiday shifts meant far fewer questions from team members. Today, it gives me space to organize and refine my projects. My husband feels the same—he's happy to chip in with his own updates during these peaceful days.

Working on Holidays with Festive Music in the Background

Queue up some Christmas tunes, and the vibe is unbeatable. The holiday playlist adds an extra layer of cheer that regular workday music can't match. As I stroll from my desk to the coffee machine, I'm humming along to songs drifting from the living room. Normally, my inbox would be overflowing by the time my cappuccino's ready—but in these final weeks of the year, I sometimes check the mail server just to confirm it's not glitching, with zero new messages in sight! 😜

Working from home makes it even easier, I know. But what about you? Do you dread holiday work, or do you relish the calm focus like I do?
