A Webr survey of 912 Dutch respondents shows 26% no longer want constant online access and long for the pre-smartphone era. Many cite 24/7 work availability as especially burdensome, with 52% preferring not to be reachable at all. Currently, 68% are accessible by phone or email outside working hours—highest in services (78%) and lowest in (semi-)government roles (34%).
The study uncovers key differences: 43% of women versus 18% of men miss smartphone- and email-free days. Likewise, 66% of women resent continuous availability compared to 35% of men, reflecting women's stronger drive for work-life separation. Younger respondents object less (32%) than those over 45 (58%).
