According to Monsterboard's annual wage guide, more than 80% of Dutch employees report general satisfaction with their lives. Yet, 40% express dissatisfaction with their overall work situation. Employees are least satisfied with salary (68% dissatisfied) and most satisfied with colleagues (77% satisfied). Managers also underperform, with four in ten employees dissatisfied. Dissatisfaction significantly fuels job searches, as 53% hope to land a new role within 12 months.
Salary satisfaction varies by sector: marketing and communications workers are least content (just 21% satisfied), followed by construction at 30%, finance at 37%, and ICT at 38%. Job security ratings are stronger for MarCom (93%) and IT professionals (88%), while construction lags at 67% and finance sits at 76%.
