Key Ingredients for Job Happiness and Low Stress: Insights from BeFrank's 2019 Survey

A positive atmosphere and enjoyment in your work are essential for minimizing stress on the job. Great colleagues create that vibe. Honesty, reliability, and helpfulness define an ideal coworker, while sneakiness, cutting corners, and shoddy work are the most frustrating traits. These findings emerge from BeFrank's 2019 Job Satisfaction Survey, conducted by the online pension provider during the Week of Work Stress.

Dutch workers rate their job satisfaction at an average of 7.5. For 93% of respondents, having fun at work significantly reduces stress. Nearly 90% emphasize that strong colleague relationships are vital for feeling good on the job. Fortunately, almost 90% report satisfaction with their workplace interactions.

Most Dutch workers enjoy their jobs, scoring satisfaction at 7.5 on average. About 60% rate it an 8 or higher. Only 6.5% find it unsatisfactory. Self-employed individuals outperform employees here: over 75% of entrepreneurs (with or without staff) give an 8 or above, compared to 57% of shop-floor employees. Top managers shine brightest, with 82% highly satisfied.

Despite high satisfaction, stress persists. Nearly half work in stressful settings, and 40% see a real burnout risk. Monitoring work-life balance is crucial.
