In an era dominated by "Carpe diem" and "YOLO" mindsets, more professionals are breaking free from monotonous routines to chase adventures and lifelong dreams. Career changes feel less intimidating than ever, with work topping the list for reinvention. Women, in particular, grapple with this urge: a study by the Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) reveals female employees mull quitting an average of 17 times annually. Context matters, though—the typical worker hasn't switched jobs in at least five years.
According to a OnePoll survey commissioned by AAT, 34% of women plan to pivot to a new role, while 22% aim for a complete sector change. Rachel Kellett, AAT's Head of Professional Development, isn't surprised. "The impact of your career extends far beyond the office. It's crucial to choose the right path. Contrary to popular belief, major life shifts are increasingly accessible—even at AAT, we see individuals over 70 diving into finance studies," she shares. Switching careers when unhappy can restore productivity and positivity. Ready to assess if it's time for a job or life change? Check the resources here and here.
