Nearly 94% of Dutch Employees Embrace Morning Coffee Rituals at Work

Nearly 94% of Dutch workers cherish their morning coffee break at the office, infused with personal rituals. In fact, 79% follow consistent habits with their daily brew, from sticking to the same number of cups at fixed times to always using the same mug. These insights emerge from De Koffiemonitor, Nestlé Professional's authoritative annual survey on workplace coffee trends.

In a typical workweek, 47% have sipped coffee before 9 a.m., and 54.1% hit the machine before desk time. Top slots are 8:00-8:30 a.m. and 10:00-10:30 a.m., each picked by 16.3%. Two-thirds feel the strongest morning craving, 71.3% see it as a healthy habit, and 59% agree it tastes best then.

At the coffee station, chats dominate: 33.3% on work, 31.3% casual topics, 6.5% social media checks (11.4% for under-30s). Even 3.4% view it as prime flirting territory.

Nearly 30% drink one coffee type daily, just under 30% at set times, and 20% a fixed cup count. Almost 60% opt for glass or porcelain over disposable cups.
