Read receipts in Microsoft Outlook notify senders when you've opened their emails, but unlike social media apps, they're not enabled by default. Recipients can often opt out on a case-by-case basis. The good news? You can easily control both sending and receiving them without affecting others' settings.
To adjust these, navigate to File > Options > Mail > Tracking. Here, you'll find options for requesting receipts from others and responding to their requests.
If you prefer not to request delivery or read receipts when sending emails, ensure these boxes are unchecked:
To stop automatic responses to read receipt requests, under "For any message that requests a read receipt,” select Never send a read receipt. For more control, choose Always ask each time.
