How to Quickly Replace All Images in Microsoft Word with Find and Replace

Microsoft Word's Find and Replace feature is a lifesaver for updating text across long documents. But it can do even more: replace every image with a new one in seconds. This trick shines for swapping outdated logos or icons throughout a lengthy file.

As a seasoned Word power user, I've relied on this method countless times to streamline edits without manual hunting. Note that it swaps all images with your chosen one—ideal for uniform updates.

  • Insert the new image at the document's top.
  • Right-click it and select Copy.
  • Delete the image.
  • Press CTRL + H to open Find and Replace.
  • In the Find what field, enter ^g.
  • In the Replace with field, enter ^c.
  • Click Replace All.
  • Click OK to confirm the number of replacements.

Here's the magic: ^g targets any graphic (image), while ^c pulls from your clipboard. Simple, fast, and reliable.
